With Unity of Opposites, Blend Mishkin and Roots Evolution take their deep knowledge of reggae, roots and dancehall and move into exciting new territory. The album combines reggae’s powerful rhythmic foundations with Andalusian musical modes, jazz, blues and traditional influences, creating a cinematic and emotionally rich sound while preserving the groove that has defined their work.

Led by composer, producer and bandleader Giorgos Mantas, Unity of Opposites represents a bold new chapter for Blend Mishkin and Roots Evolution. The album brings together contrasting musical worlds and transforms them into a cohesive, contemporary sound. Melody, rhythm, musicianship and experimentation come together naturally, reflecting a band with the discipline and confidence to explore beyond its established musical identity.

From Reggae Roots to a New Musical Vision

Blend Mishkin has established himself as one of Greece’s leading reggae producers, earning recognition across Europe through his productions, live performances and appearances at festivals and venues throughout the continent.

Following the acclaimed albums Survival of the Fittest (2015) and Wildfire (2019), Blend Mishkin continues to evolve as an artist. With Unity of Opposites, he pushes beyond the traditional boundaries of reggae, exploring new harmonic and sonic landscapes without losing the roots, dancehall and bass-driven character at the heart of his music.

The result is an album where reggae meets jazz, blues, traditional Mediterranean influences and Andalusian melodies, creating a distinctive musical language that feels both familiar and completely new.

The Unity of Opposites

The concept behind Unity of Opposites reaches back to the philosophy of Heraclitus, who explored the idea that opposing forces can exist together and create harmony.
